The Group Supplemental Day Habilitation Program is designed for individuals with developmental disabilities who need additional community-based support outside traditional daytime program hours. Serving participants throughout the five boroughs of New York City, the program operates during weekday evenings to help individuals strengthen independent living skills, build social connections, and participate in meaningful community activities. Through a person-centered approach, services are tailored to each individual’s Life Plan, allowing participants to continue developing practical skills while promoting community inclusion beyond school or daytime programs.

The Group Supplemental Day Habilitation Program focuses on individualized supports that encourage greater independence and community participation through the following components:

Skill Building

Develops independent living skills, self-care abilities, socialization, and community safety awareness.

Key Differences from Standard Group Day Habilitation

The Supplemental Group Day Habilitation Program is designed to complement, rather than replace, the standard Group Day Habilitation Program.

Program Schedule

Standard Group Day Habilitation operates during regular weekday daytime hours, while Supplemental Group Day Habilitation is offered during weekday evenings.

Supplemental Group Day Habilitation is intended for individuals who attend school or participate in another daytime program and would benefit from additional community-based support.

Participation Requirements

The same eligibility requirements that apply to the standard Group Day Habilitation Program also apply to the Supplemental Group Day Habilitation Program.

The Supplemental Group Day Habilitation Program is designed to strengthen these skills through community-based activities that encourage independence, meaningful participation, and community inclusion. Services are provided using a person-centered approach that creates opportunities for individuals to develop practical skills while engaging in recreational, educational, and volunteer experiences.

What to Expect

Participants attend scheduled evening sessions where they engage in community-based activities that support independent living, social development, and community participation.
